FLAWSCAN™ BIAX: Optical Quality Control and Process Optimization on High Speed Lines

To allow its customers to ensure quality production and reduce waste, i2S has introduced the FLAWSCANTM BIAX system for 100% online inspection of biax film.

The system performs 100% inspection of clear transparent, mat and opaque film and provides comprehensive reports for each roll as well as global production statistics. This information, provided in real time, enables quick identification of repeating or continuous defects and applies immediate corrective actions on the process, thereby increasing production capacity and reducing waste.
 

FLAWSCANTM BIAX General Features:

FLAWSCANTM BIAX delivers the highest quality defect images, providing reliable data for optimizing the production process.

Each defect is analyzed and classified. The images are displayed and archived in predefined categories, such as: dust, spots, streaks, dark clusters, etc. Classification is performed using a state-of-the-art artificial intelligence engine, which results in more reliable classification and very intuitive system configuration.
 

Typical Defects: 

FLAWSCAN™ BIAX can detect and distinguish between several typical plastic defects, such as wrinkles, dark contaminants, gels, etc. These defects are detected regardless of whether they appear on textured ground.

The system is located at the end of the production line just before the winder so that inspection occurs at the last possible moment.
